Production Skills Development

My production skills greatly improved over the course of making this project. I’ve grown a lot more comfortable using a video editing software, and my editing choices became a lot more deliberate and had intention behind them rather than just being generic. My filming skills improved as well, I grew a lot more focused on the way I frame my shots and the angle at which I film them, once again making sure that each shot had a clear purpose and fit my vision, and that it effectively showed the viewer what they needed to know in order to understand and follow the plot. I also became a lot more focused on the overall sound design, paying attention to details and the flow of the sounds that are present, along with the flow of the opening itself, and how the scenes fit together and their progression.

Besides the improvement of technical skills, I’ve also become more organised with my time and more comfortable with creating schedules and sticking to them, so that I can get things done effectively and on time, which is something I was greatly lacking before this project. I’ve also learnt to more effectively break down my work into smaller pieces in order to make the process easier and more manageable, and generally less overwhelming and chaotic.
