For the sound, it's mostly going to be diegetic sounds, because this is a slice of life story, and I think that having a lot of soundtrack and sound effects could break some of the immersion. I also think it might distract the viewer from the visual aspects, and from analysing the character.
I do want to include bits of one song though, and following my initial idea, that song is going to be "Best Day Of My Life" by Tom Odell. There are some lyrics I'd really like to include, and I think the bitter-sweet piano melody would fit very well too. Because while the film opening does start with a more positive scene, the other scenes will be in stark contrast from that.
There will also be a voiceover, in the voice of the main character, explaining a little bit of why they are in the cemetery in the first place, and presenting a few details about their story, past experiences, and a bit of their thinking process as well. I think this will play an important role in defining who this character is, and it will also give the viewer some relevant information for better understanding the story.
Lastly, for the diegetic sounds, it will mostly be just footsteps, which I will have to record separately, because they're barely audible in the footage I filmed.
I'll most likely play around with which diegetic sounds to mute and which ones not to, depending on the presence or absence of voiceover or music during that specific shot.
