Project Choice And Expectations

This post is just meant as some self reflection over the AS project and how it went, as well as my expectations for the A2 project, and the ideas I have for it so far.

Firstly, I want to talk about what went well with my film opening: I'm really satisfied with how the editing turned out, as well as the filming itself; there are a bunch of cuts and camera movements I'm really proud of, and I really like the way I used the song and voice-over to further drive the emotional message.

However, I think that in my A2 project I want to challenge myself further and try to film more creatively, to play around with angles and camera movements more. I'd also like to experiment with more complex editing, such as transitions, collages or more dramatic colour grading, and I also want to work with the lighting more, try using more dramatic lighting and lighting colours.

For my A2 project, I've chosen the music promotion package, because I just feel like it would suit me very well, since I'm very passionate about music, its genres and history in general. The way I envision it, the music video will be a combination of surreal colours and just vibes. Some of the music genres I usually listen to are metal, metalcore, nu metal, gothic and gothic metal, as well as the occasional rap. For the music video, however, I was thinking of picking a metalcore band. The first one that came to mind was Silent Planet, and their song Antimatter. The sound and the vague, but strongly visual metaphors of the band just seem so perfect for creating a music video. I think Silent Planet's style and visual identity will be a very good base to have fun with and turn into a digipak cover, especially because I strongly resonate with their aesthetic.

Overall, I'm just hoping to improve my technical skills, as well as lean more into my creativity with this project.
